you need to add BORDER=0 to all your images that you use as links, to get
rid of the blue link border.

Using individual images for every letter of "the english civil war" is not
a good idea as it puts undo strain on your server and takes longer to load
(there is a request sent for each image, and the overhead does add up even
if the images are small).

When going to the sub pages, the frames are different (one has the
navigational frame on the bottom and the others all seem to have it on the
left)

BTW: it looks better on the left.
