Hello Everyone,

As many of you know ... my name is Chuck McGee, Jr. and I am the Area Guide
Manager for the Critique List. There have been a number of posts recently
that have strayed from the Charter of this mailing list and I wanted to
express to everyone the importance of remaining on-topic and to
respectfully request that all future off-topic posts take place on the
appropriate list.

If anyone needs directions to the appropriate list for any given topic, I
would be more than happy to assist in determining where it most likely
would garner the most response based on the content ... that's why I'm here.

The Critique Charter states:
"This list is to be used by HTML Writers Guild members to ask for and give
critiques on fellow members pages. if you want to say: "please see my page
on http://foo.foo.com/index.html", and get a real response, this is the list!"

In my opinion, this is the most clearly defined charter in the Guild ...
request critiques and reply with the review.

One of the most recent threads on the list has moved in the direction of
Theory ... there has been numerous comments in reference to "why something
should be done" or "why something shouldn't be done" .... this is
definitely a topic for Theory and believe me when I tell you, the members
over on Theory, myself included, would love to see some action.

Subsequently, the topic has also moved into the direction of Techniques or
Basics of HTML and the tags if you will ... please remember that there are
members that subscribe to these other lists so that they may lend their
advice and knowledge ... some of those may not be subbed to Critique and
therefore many of the members that are actually interested in that topic
are missing out and the members asking those questions on the Critique list
may not get the highest concentration of answers.

I'm not going to redirect these threads ... I would like to see the
appropriate action taken by the members themselves ... it's your list.

If anyone has any questions regarding this post, please do not hesitate to
contact me directly at alg-managers(at)hwg.org

Thanks much in advance for listening,

Chuck McGee, Jr.
