Hi,

A long time ago I criticised the departments official web page, as a result
they used my design to base the new one on.....

The new site uses an "innovative" dual column layout - not my
improvisation. I find that the new page isn't all that brilliant, but I'm
outgunned on the committee. However I thought I would solicit general
opinions on the various designs.

My Version (only some links work):

http://www.darwin.ucr.edu/temp/

Official 'A' version:

http://www.cnas.ucr.edu/~ento/

Official 'B' version:

http://www.cnas.ucr.edu/~ento/Mechanics/v2index.html

I'm not trying to get a 'which version is best' responses, but how to make
the best page.

My feeling is that they are trying to squeeze too many links into a single
page, and as a result you end up with a busy design, however you slice it.
I also feel that they are so obsessed in making the page look good on a VGA
Netscape 2 PC, that they have actually peanalised everyone else.

Any suggestions accepted, though do note the new versions are so much
better than the original now defunct page - you didn't want to see that...!

You can direct any comments at me directly, or the list, I only get Digest
version, so I'm thanking you now.

Again, I'm looking at how to make the best accessible intro page for an
academic department. We want to attract students, which I suppose is our
primary corporate goal....
