Hello there,

I'm a "long time listener, first time caller", if I may borrow the phrase
rom radio talkshows. There seems to be a lot of really good information on
this listserv and I figure it's high time I jump into the fray and give
some critiques myself.

- Large Images - I agree with Stephan, that that first one is a real
elephant. Breaking it down into smaller images might help a little bit,
but I'd try to optimize it first. I noticed that it had a lot of "fuzzy
edges". That would probably be due to nasty JPEG compression. Since the
image is not a "photographic" image, I'd save it as a GIF file and see how
many colors you can take out of it and still keep the look you want.

- Inconsistant Design - I'd stay with one background image (or very slight
variations of one) on all of you pages to help tie them together. Also,
you might want to stick with one color scheme and vary from it as little as
possible throughout the site (though I see that green and orange-brown do
dominate, so probably not too much work needs to be done there).

- Content - Wow! You obviously have a large amount of text. I'm sure your
site would be a great resource for psychology students.

- Information Layout - I think you have a pretty clear hierarchy going
here. The only problem might go back to the Inconsistant Design problem.
There seemed to be several different navigation methods (to frame or not to
frame...) present. I'd stick to one to avoid confusing visitors.

- Bright Note - You're done with the grunt work. That must have been a lot
of typing! Just a few changes here and there with nothing more than a text
editor can make a huge difference once you decide on your final design. If
you still have the origional image for that main navigation graphic, try
cutting it up into peices and saving them as optimized GIFs. I think you
might be surprised how small you can make them.

Best of luck,

David Gauer
