Well, trying to debug a table sizing problem when the source was
created by something like Dreamweaver has to be one of the biggest
nightmares around... and I don't have AOL. However, I do know that
several browser versions throw away all cell pixel width definitions
after they encounter the first cell where the contents will not fit
inside the width given. And here it is:
<td height="20" width="1"> </td>
A non-breaking space is always going to be wider than one pixel, no
matter how small your font!
I suggest you move beyond the demo page and create it the way you intend
to for the final version without "all those empty spacer cells" which
drive me crazy in source view. You may find the problem solves itself.
Looking at the first page, I can't see why it wouldn't work as a simple
2 x 2 table (or 2 x 5 at the most) and you'd be able to do most of it as
text text, not graphic text, and thus vastly increase the accessibility
too. (I'm assuming the final version will have ALT text)
I know you didn't want a critique, but having three different font faces
on the very first page, with some as crisp text, and some as blurred
anti-aliased images, doesn't work for me.
