Hi,

I've been checking it with NC 4.03, IE 4 and Opera 3 without any
problems whatsoever. No one else have reported the same problem as
you. I'm attaching the source code at the bottom of this page. If
there is any problems in it you notice I'd be grateful if you inform
me of them.

Regards,

M.

<span id=3Dtext><p>The title says "American" cookbook although one
couldn't mistake it for anything else than the heritage of USA. The
cover features a picture of an apple and cherry pie on the national
flag of USA. This attractive book is not organised in the usual way
with an introduction and/or historical background and then according
to the type of dish (appetizers, main course, desserts etc) or the
main ingredient (meat, fish, etc) but by the region of the USA.
Instead, the editors has opted for dividing the material into the
different regions of the USA - New England, The Middle Atlantic, The
South, The Midwest, The Southwest, The West and The Pacific Northwest
and Beyond. There is an introduction and two indeces. The first in
alphabetical order, the second by keywords. The two indeces are needed
as it otherwise would be very difficult to find specific recipes.</p>

<p>Each geographic section is introduced by a short historical text.
Then follows the recipes in a not very obvious order. The recipes are
introduced with a brief historical note. All recipes are moden
adaptions of the originals (I can't see any information to the
contrary) and there are no references to the original sources nor are
the originals included anywhere in the text. I would also question the
accuracy of the adaptions of the published recipes, because, as it
says in the very beginning of the book: </p>

<blockquote>". . . every recipe in the Heritage of America Cookbook
has been tested in the Better Homes and Gardens Test Kitchen. This
means that each recipe is practical and reliable, and meets our high
standards of taste appeal."</blockquote>

<p>I am afraid it would also mean that the historical accuracy of
preparation and possibly ingredients is lacking. Hopefully one will
get an approximate taste for what the dishes should taste like. </p>

<p>This is an attractive book which serves a purpose as an
introduction to traditional cooking in the USA. I fear that the
historical accuracy of the recipes are below low however, so I
wouldn't recommend it for anyone who feels that this is important.<br>
