Hello List. I hope everyone is well.
I'm hitting a creative block. Okay, it's more like two tons of brick have
fallen on my head. *G* I'm trying to redesign my site, and damned if I can
figure out what I want to do with it.
I have four variations of a layout online:
http://www.offlead.com/new/index.html
http://www.offlead.com/new/index2.html
http://www.offlead.com/new/index3.html
http://www.offlead.com/new/index4.html
None of the links work, but the rollovers should. The body copy is
primarily acting as a space-holder at the moment, as the content of the
site needs a rewrite. Of the four, I'm leaning towards the first. The
troubles so far are A) I can't shake the nagging feeling that the design
needs....something. What, I haven't the foggiest idea, but "something". B)
I know that I lean heavy on whitespace when I can design to my heart's
content. I always have. This site does not have an excess of copy to fill
up space, especially on high resolutions. I've been told that this design
has WAY too much whitespace. I, as a rule, design for 600x480 or at least
as close to that as client dictates will allow. I also assume that anyone
using a REALLY high resolution is probably not going to see this, they're
probably used to lots of extra space, and that many using high res don't
browse with a fully maximized window. All of these may be poor assumptions
to make, but I make them none-the-less. ;)
Any comments on these versions would be greatly appreciated. The only part
of my current site that I see being a problem in the narrow body-copy part
of the table is the resume, and I'm not entirely sure I want that up
anyhow. See? I'm all fence-sitting tonight, not a decision to be found
anywhere in me.
TIA,
Jeniffer
