Well, it may be visually striking, but it's not exactly accessible.
The lack of NOFRAMES content in your index file means that only
browsers that are frame-enabled can access your content (and why the
two frames anyway? It would work just as well without frames
at all).
As the only way into your site is through the Flash animation,
you're also cutting off the people who aren't flash-enabled.
I tried the About link first. The FAQ link opened up a new window
with the questions and answers - a refreshing change to see some
HTML, but the stark black and white contrasted too much with the
artisitic feel of the Flash left behind. The HTML code needs works
too:
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> <b>Frequently Asked
Questions
</b> </font>
should be <h1>Frequently Asked Questions</h1> with CSS used to control
the font face and size, and the Q&A's themselves should be a definition
list. The page lacked a Title too.
Hitting Email Us opened up a new window again, but then immediately
bounced me over to my email program, leaving a blank window titled
"No content to display".
The RFP was better - the colors did carry through from the rest of
the site, but the title tag needs to be more specific.
I didn't go on to check the other pages, as I'm guessing they will
have the same problems.
What I would do is get rid of the frames, add non-Flash navigation
and content alternatives, add DOCTYPEs to the top of each of your pages,
fix the HTML to use structural, not presentation markup, have everything
open in the same window, and add something on the very first page
to describe what your company does. I had no idea, even after looking
at a few pages. Also, there's no "Home" link - I had to reload the
frameset to remind myself what was on the first page.
It shouldn't be too hard to produce a version of your site that looks
almost the same, but in HTML, not Flash. While the Flash works well,
and I'm sure is a smaller download than the equivalent graphics would
be, I personally would love to be able to go through your site quicker
than I can right now - waiting for the curves to settle down, and
the text to come in takes more patience than I normally have while
surfing :)
The graphics quality is great!
