Janet,
One problem I can tell you right off, I'm a novice, but I've worked in frames
quite a bit. When I clicked on the AnnieMation link on the main page, I was
faced with the same navigation bar again, so I ended up with two navigation
bars right next to each other.
I'm curious as to why you created the navigation bar as several different
frames... if you had created them as just graphics and linked them to ONE
frame on the left hand side, you could have set the navigation to remain
while only the parent frame (frame on the right) changed. If you used a
target="main" in your A HREF code, you could have the one navigation bar on
the left remain without having to add a navigation bar to the page you were
skipping to and thus get rid of the two navigation bars side by side which
takes up unnecessary space. If you happen to change the navigation bar at
some point and want certain pages to go that page instead, then create a
target="top" in your A HREF code and a different frame for that second
navigation bar. The the whole page will change to the new navigation bar and
the main page you want to go along with it at the same time. This could get
sticky for your top frame though if you don't do it right. You'll need to
set up the frameset to show the top frame and the left and right frame as you
want them to be seen. Of course, if you insist on keeping all these separate
frames instead of making it one frame, you can't do the above items I just
mentioned above.
The placement in IE5 looks good at 800x600 resolution from what I can see.
But I think you are going to have serious navigation problems with it.
I created a site not too long ago that had 3 different navigation bars and
about 12 different main (parent) frame pages. I used a different frame
document for each navigation bar and only switched from one to the other when
it was necessary. If you need help with this, let me know and I'll be glad
to show you what I did.
As I said before, I'm a novice, so you may not want to take MY word for all
this I just mentioned, but I'm sure you'll see others saying the same. I'm
just a newbie on this list and have never critiqued a site before in my life,
but I do know a little about targeting frames.
