1st site critique

My site is almost complete - at least I hope so. It is semi commercial
(profit and not-for profit combined) and is the first one I've ever done. I
have tried to follow the list comments carefully and hope I have understood
what I've read.  Since people will be accessing this site from real old
machines and browsers there are no frames and I've tried to keep everything
simple, clean and direct. My apologies if this translates to being boring,
but my graphics' capabilities are worse than my knowledge of HTML.

Any critique is welcome, I am particularly interested in:

-browser compatibility
-ease in understanding the site as a whole
-whether the site evokes an interest in using the services offered
-in the "dive into our fantasy swim" section can anyone tell me how to
change the timing so the pages cycle faster?
-from the list discussions I couldn't tell whether I should validate, but I
know I'm supposed to have which version HTML my site is. I don't have a
clue. Nor do I know where I'm supposed to put that information.
