1. Call to Order
The meeting shall be called to order at 6:00 p.m. PST,
Thursday, February 19, 1998. The meeting will be held
via IRC on the Guild's #hwg channel.
2. Determination of Quorum
The secretary shall record the attendance of the plus
members present, including those present via proxy votes.
A quorum of 10% of the voting membership is required; as
there are 877 "plus" members as of January 31, 1998, at
least 88 votes must be present for the meeting to continue,
in the form of either pre-registered proxies, or Plus
members who have not submitted a proxy via the web.
3. Voting on Governing Board Members
A. Candidates
There are currently three (3) positions on the Governing
Board up for election at this meeting. The candidates
for those positions are:
Frederick J. Barnett Tarik Dozier
Susan Duncan Peter Knaggs
Demitrius Lopez Jimmie McWhirt
Johnny Mo Gerald Oskoboiny
Tanya Spain Richard Tuttle
B. Eligible Voters
Only paid members at the "plus" level, as of January 31,
1998, are eligible to vote. Members who have already
registered a proxy ballot via voting on the Guild's
voting web site are not required to attend the meeting,
and may not issue a second vote in addition to their
pre-recorded proxy.
Members who are eligible to vote who have not registered
a proxy may vote at the meeting, but must be prepared to
verify their plus member status, by having ready their
HWG member id, password, and other identifying infor-
mation.
C. Counting of Votes
Each member may vote for up to three candidates. The
top three candidates receiving at least a majority
(50% plus 1) vote based upon the number of members
voting will be elected to the Governing Board. The
results of the vote will be announced by the Secretary
when the votes are verified (which may take place
after the meeting). Voting results will be announced
on the hwg-ops mailing list, on the Guild's website
at http://www.hwg.org/election1998/, and in the next
hwg-news newsletter.
4. Adjournment
The meeting will be adjourned by a motion to adjourn and
successful informal vote on the adjournment motion.
