On the other end of the spectrum, my Microtek ScanMaker E3 has been the best
peripheral I have ever owned. Ulead Photoimpact comes along with it and it
is easy to set up. Both SCSI and Parallel are available. The *only* thing
negative I can say is that sometimes on black and white images, it scans
with horizontal lines on the image. Sometimes adjusting the brightness and
contrast will help, but usually not. I have scanned the same image on two
other scanners with the same results, but it could be the paper that the
photo was on (glossy magazine paper). The best scanner you can buy will be
the one that is easiest for you. Test them all before buying. :)
