Hi Shannon

I'm fairly sure you can do this in Photoshop, but I don't know it enough to
know how - I'm sure one of the PS experts on the list will be able to say.

However in Paint Shop Pro (I'm using PSP6 but I know this was also
available in PSP5) you can use IMAGE - DEFORMATION - CIRCLE to deform a
selected area of an image so that it looks as if it has been mapped onto a
sphere.
