Alignment of Graphics....

Hi all,

This has always puzzled me, I know what each does, but for some reason I
just cant get it to work....

here is my problem....

     X
        X
            X

each "X" is a graphic that is staggarded

what I want to do is this

      X       x
          X
              X

my wife is designing her halloween page and has stummped me on this one.

Valign="middle"  - doesnt work
Align="middle" - doesnt work

Please help...
