Graphics Tablet

Greetings to all graphics warriors.

I create all my web graphics only with the mouse. I have reacently read some
articles saying that this process it is way better and easier with a
graphics tablet. The article mentioned a "Wacom" Tablet.
I have never used or seen a graphics tablet.

Is it really better?

The problem is that in real life when I paint say a tree the whole thing
looks square. (I am not a natural born artist, even though in my family
there are many artists and painters)

Does anyone out there have experience with graphics tablets for the creation
of web graphics?
Can anyone recommend a not so expensive but good graphic tablet?
