I'll try, but teaching is not one of my talents...
Image must be saved as a gif... Index image.

Hint, make sure background or part of image that you want transparent is one
color. ie: green=255 R and B =0
Make sure that color is not included in the image that you want left
showing.
Go to file and then to export and then gif89a
Click on the color you want transparent and save. That color will turn to
gray or whatever. That color is a transparency. Viola you have it.
Hint, you can click on hues of that colour in the gif89a chart and it will
turn those into gray as well.  Be careful picking them to make sure you have
it all and avoid sparkies and not bother the preserved image.
Once you get that far, you will learn more about it as you experiment.
Those basics should help you get started.
Also, help is a wonderful tool.
