Perhaps I was misunderstood. I was *not* trying to make a case for ignoring
the 256 color limit. Quite the contrary! I *always* optimize my GIF color
palettes, for 2 reasons. One, to look acceptable at 256 color depth and two,
to speed downloads.
I set my prospects color depth to 24 bit because everything just looks
better - not because I'm trying to change the world.
I agree with others who have said to create for the lowest common
denominator. The operative word, of course, is "common". Hey, there's still
a few out there with *16* colors!
...nope. Ain't gonna do it. You can't make me. =)
