Odd question

Hello all
  My problme is a kina odd one...I recently got a new compluter and run IE4 and NN4 on it.  I still have my old computer that runs IE3.02 only and w/certain graphics on it that I have been trying to transfer to my new comp.  They are saved as .gifs, but are apparently some other form.  I have tried e-mailing them, transfer via disk, but always the same result, the browsers in my comp can't read them.  I have tried to load them in PSP4 to see if I could change them, nope, no go there either,  How do I get these pics on my comp and have the browsers read them w/out trying to back and get the pics from the orginal source(which mostly I can't retrieve)?
