ZIP BMP

Hi List:

I want to provide an image file on the server for viewers to download.  
Since this file is intended for print use, keeping the file in high 
resolution is necessary.  I chose to use BMP format.  To conserve space, 
I had compressed the file using Winzip.  It turns out the compression 
ratio is very high: 15MB down to 42KB.  This sounds too good to be true.  
Can anyone tell me if this is a lossy process.  I can't detect any loss 
of quality on the image, but that's a judgement call.  Maybe someone 
knows the theory behind this process.  Thanks.
