Using Photoshop 5 (win98) how would I go about inserting text not of a
certain colour but instead filled with a certain texture? I am creating
the typical stone-like button and I want the text on top of the button
to look carved out, so that the text itself is not just black or gray or
some colour but is instead filled with the same texture as the button.
I also would like a slight shadow to make it look like the text is
carved in. Any ideas? I am sure there is a tutorial out there on how
to do this... do you know where it is?
thanks !
phil.
Filling text with a pattern or texture is simple. Have the pattern or
texture open in PSP..... click on the Paint Bucket... go to the Control
Box, and using the drop down menu...choose Pattern, rather than solid
color. Go to the option button....and in the drop down menu, choose the
graphic that contains your pattern. Leave the Blend mode as Normal.
Click on OK. Make sure white is the foreground color.....place your
text where you want it....and while it it still a selected item...use
the paint bucket to fill your letters.
To give the text some dimension, you can use the plain preset or a text
bevel preset in Blade Pro.
Do not deselect the text. To put a drop shadow...go to the word IMAGE
on the menu bar of PSP....choose effects...then dropshadow. Set the
color to Black or a color of your choice...and play with the sliders
until you get the effect you like. The offset sliders control the width
of the drop shadow...
Another method to make it look carved would be to use the cut out
feature under Images/Effects....but make sure fill with interior color
is NOT checked.
Hope that helps!
