Scanner for Jewelry

I have a client that is creating an e-commerce site for their existing 
jewelry store.  They have purchased a digital camera setup for taking 
pictures of rings, etc.  However, they want me to suggest a good quality 
scanner for pictures of necklaces and other long, flat jewelry objects.

Has anyone had a similar request or experience.

If not, could you let me know your suggestions for a good quality scanner 
that could be used for this purpose.
