I dont think anyone is saying the days of true legitimate web
development and design are over. But what we have said is -- lets be
realistic and look at the challenges from within and without our
industry.

Sure there is a HUGE market. But no matter how qualified you are you
will face challenges -- especially from others who dont legitimately
have what it takes to do the work. If you prepare yourself and know
your craft well. You WILL earn a good living regardless of how large or
small your business is.

W3C and the Web Standards Project acknowledge the challenges.
Understanding what they are is part of what we do.
