Flash Question

Is anyone in here very familiar with Flash Version 4?

I aqquired the program a while back, and have been trying to aqqauint myself 
with it, using many tutorials and guides.

The one problem I have... I'm stuck on the tutorial about creating buttons. 
The tutorial says to go on to the second frame, labeled "Over" and either 
push Insert>>keyframe, or push F6.

Apparently this is supposed to create the same shape as in the up frame, and 
you can edit it to look as what you want it to when a mouse is over it, 
etc..

My problem, however, lies in the fact that I do exactly what it says to, and 
no button appears in the second frame.
Is there something preventing this from working as the tutorial says it 
should?
help? advice? anything would be greatly appreciated.
