Hi List

I meant to post this several days ago when the topic of Server Side Inclu=
des
(SSI) raised its head, but what with the weekend intervening and first da=
y
back to work network hassles I didn't quite get around to it.

A great (free!) source of information on SSI, that I stumbled across last=

Friday, can be found at:

  http://www.ora.com/info/cgi/ch05.html

This is a free excerpt of Chapter 5: Server Side Includes from Shishir
Gundavaram's book, "CGI Programming on the World Wide Web," published by
O'Reillys. It explains all those previously mysterious SSI Directives (at=

least to me) such as "file" versus "virtual" commands, as well as the exe=
c
command which provides the ability to execute external programs (eg CGI) =
from
within HTML files. Easy to understand even towards the end of the chapter=

where it devolves into CGI babble. =

The O'Reilly site at http://www.ora.com/www/index.html, in general, is a =
great
resource.

Cheers
Sharon

 its
