That's true, but... (was: Free and royalty-free photos..)

I completely agree... the TRUE cost of purchasing a professional photograph
for exclusive ownership is astounding! I've paid the price many times...

Fortunately, these photos won't need to be associated with the clients'
product. Correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the reasons to seek an
exclusive copyright is if the model/scene/item is an integral part of your
business. (ex: the model is wearing a dress sold at JCPenney for JCPenney,
or maybe it's of Vanna White riding the Wheele of Fortune wheele!) A full
copyright will also give you the freedom to use faces and particular artwork
for all of your distribution packets, like the stack of gold coins used by
Cross Check, Inc.

Yes, being granted "non-exclusive" rights to a photo means that I, you, or
the guy next door can use that particular photo on any website once
purchased, but that's ok when you're talking about general banner
advertisements or just adding a little something special to spice up a page.
And that's all we're going for here... I'm just surprised to see it for so
cheap!! I mean, twenty bucks ain't bad for a professonal-looking snapshot
that would only be used one time... one that I certainly can't take myself,
you know?

Thanks again,
Denise
