I think frames can be great if they are used correctly. Many people don't
know how to size them. For example, you go to a site that makes you scroll
over just to see the rest of the contents menu.
They also have their advantages. Updating and adding content to frames is a
snap and if you have a top frame, changing ad banners is easy. But, you have
to consider people using older browsers. I use a simple technique that
automatically switches older browsers to a non-frame site.
Here is how I do it. On the main page (index.html), I create the frame and
add the <noframes> tag. Under that I include a meta refresh tag that
transfers them to the "noframes" folder.
In that folder, I have a non-frames version of the site. I hope this helps
some people out there.
