Diagnol Lines

Hi Everyone:

I'm trying to draw a simple 3 pixel diagonal line with either 
Photoshop 4.0 or Paintshop Pro 4.0 . Straight lines look fine 
but all diagonal lines are jagged.

What is the secret?
