Freezing upon opening (mouse use)

Hi,

A while back I wrote about this problem, and thanks to some of you I got
some intelligent responses.  

I gave up, though on Photoshop.  I still have to talk to support there.  I
changed mouse drivers, etc.  

Now the same thing has happened in ImageReady.  Adobe makes it so difficult
to get real support that it is hard to get ahold of anyone.  I don't
believe it's my mouse -- it has only happened in Adobe programs.

Now I am stuck with a pile of work in front of me.  Does anyone have any
other words of wisdom to add to what I might try?
