actually, to be technically correct, there's no way of smoothing the image,
because of the limitations of the monitor hardware, and the nature of pixel
technology...but to make it /appear/ smoother (i'm assuming you mean the
text on
http://140.90.252.17/images/saohdr.gif ) there are a few things to do...

I'd start from scratch again witht the text...The SAO seems ok, but if
you're not happy with it, you can try resizing/sampling the image larger,
throw on a delicate blur, and resample it back to the original size.

with the white text, make sure that whatever application you're using has
antialiasing on.

In Photoshop, this is a checkbox in the text dialogue box... (i think? my
mind's a bit scattered, and i may not be remebering correctly)

antialiasing is basically a way to -- through the use of colour and the
eye's natural inclinations -- 'split' a pixel, so as to get rid of the
jaggies that you see on your text. you'll also get these 'jaggies' if you
enlarge an image, especially if you use a lower-quality program (read:
anything but Photoshop)

=)

Hope this helps,
