transparency & interlacing

Hello!

I am having a very hard time with my transparency when using paintshop pro
4.  It just either doesn't work or it does when it wants to.  Does anyone
have a step by step instruction of how to make it work.  Perhaps I am
starting a new graphic with the wrong options?

My second question is interlaced graphics.  I have read that it is a good
idea to provide this sort of graphic since it gives the user a quicker idea
of what is happening, for those with browsers that don't support it they
still get the graphics end result.  On a professional level do you think
interlaced graphics are ok?
