Ladies and Gentlemen,

My name is Chuck McGee, Jr. and I am one of the Area Guide Managers for the
HTML Writer's Guild.

I am writing to you today in reference to the discussions of public
software, fonts, graphics, etc ... -vs- non-public of the same (in other
words ... products and materials that are normally obtained by purchase,
rather than from public distribution)

To discuss issues related to "work-arounds or tricks", software source
modifications, "can you send me fonts?", etc ... of non-public materials
is unethical and illegal. The Guild does not approve of these discussions.

Therefore it is the Guild's official stance that issues of this nature be
conducted elsewhere as it would compromise the Guild otherwise.

Any further discussion of these topics will be in violation of the
Actionable Rules (#9)
http://www.hwg.org/lists/rules.html#9
... whereas such issues are considered to be posting illegal materials.

I quote to you the actionable ruling:
"The Guild's lists may not be used to post illegal material. The Guild is
incorporated in the State of Georgia, and all laws applicable will be
applied. This includes, but is not confined to, copyright violations and
the discussion of warez."

Whatever is done in private is of no concern to the Guild and its mailing
lists ... but, while conversing on the lists that are owned and operated by
the Guild, please refrain from discussing such issues.

Your cooperation in this matter is extremely appreciated.

Chuck McGee, Jr.
Area Guide Manager
