You do this at the making of the image, not at the html stage.  How you do
it depends on the software you are using.  I would suggest that you go to
the "help" of your graphics software and look up "transparent".  As long as
the software isn't as old as the hills, you will find instructions there.
Alterntaively, write to this list with the name of your graphics software
and I'm sure that someone will try to help you.  But please do check the
"help" files first - that's what they are there for.
