i would look at some of the javascript on developer.netscape.com, the one
that incorporates the rollover images etc has as part of it a bit that
allows you to figure out the resolution of the users monitor, as does
another bit of the script. based on that you could have several background
images - say four, one for each of the four main image resolutions, and use
the one that you want based upon the users monitor.
