smeared graphics

I opened your image in PSP4 and used the color replacer tool to take the
purple pixels out of the white squares, and the dark purple pixels from around
the end of the arrows and around the numbers. I then lowered the number of
colors to 256 and saved it as a .jpg and a .gif . It seemed to hold up well. I
uploaded them to see how they would do there, and they seen to be ok. The .gif
looks cleaner than the jpg.
You have the image size on the page set at 414 X 257. The actual image size is
341 X 178. That may also make the image appear blurry or distorted. 
I tried a different font on the pictures. The serifs, all the little points on
the roman or whichever font that is on there will sometimes blur, especially
with them so small. The ariel that I tried didn't fare much better, because of
the size.
