Hi Chris,

You don't need to save your Illustrator files in any special format. Just
save them in Illustrator's native .ai files and if your have Illustrator
8.0, you will be able to open the file right into Photoshop with layers
intact. You will have to set the bitmap resolution and the size of the
image at the time you open it though. If you open an Illustrator 7.0 file
the only difference is that your layers will be lost once in Photoshop.
This works with both Photoshop 4.0 and 5.0, don't know about 3.0.

HTH!
