I have used the Ipen Pro by Cross with great success. Not a Wacom tablet,
certainly, but far far better for freehand work in any application. And, if
you want, you can use it solely as a mouse. It retails for, if I recall
correctly, $99.

I recommend a graphics tablet for creating custom logos, especially in
Illustrator.
