You don't need anything this complicated. You just have to add ALT text to=
=20
one of the image tags in the sliced graphic (maybe the most important image=
=20
or the first one) and add empty ALT attributes (yes they are ALT=20
*attributes* of the IMG tag, not ALT *tags*...) to all the other images in=
=20
the sliced graphic as well as to any other image on the page that doesn't=20
carry any special meaning like transparent GIFs, table corner graphics or=20
whatever. This takes those images out of the page's flow in text only=20
browsers like Lynx or text to speech readers. Images without ALT=20
attributes come up as annoying [Image] within the text flow in Lynx and=20
probably throw off text to speech browsers in some way as well. What's=20
even more annoying is when designers put the image's file name (and/or=20
size) in ALT attributes. Imagine having that read aloud to you for every=20
image...

Btw, Lynx is a great browser to check your pages for accessibility. If=20
your pages are legible in Lynx, chances are they'll be fine in a text to=20
speech browser as well.
