On my scanner, a Umax Astra1200S, there is a setting to get rid of the moire.
It does a great job in most cases. It is called Descreen and allows 3 levels.
The three are Newspaper, Magazine and Art Print. There are different levels
because these three media use different screens densities (more or fewer
dots).
Have you looked in your scanning controls (the dialog box you before you do
the actual scan) for anything that may indicate it could get rid of moire? If
your scanner doesn't have these controls there are methods in PS to rid it. I
have two books on PS I have been looking through and I can't find any right
now. I know I have done it in PS but can't remember how. It may be in the
help menu in PS under moire or halftones or screens.
Also, look at the adobe.com site. There are tips and tricks and ridding moire
patterns may be there or you may be able to ask an Adobe expert.
