I use Photoshop 5.0 (Photos and touch-up), Premiere 5.0 (for video),
Illustrator 7 (for drawing), Bryce 3 and Poser 3 for quick andscapes and
people, Ray Dream Studio 5 for 3D modeling, and Director 6 for multimedia.
Most importantly, use a WYSIWYG HTML editor to do your basic scripting. Most
designers will kil me for saying this, but, I have better things to do then to
labor all day in Notepad. I still use notepad to do my JScripting and touch
up work, but the bulk is done in an editor. None are easy to use at first,
but are easily picked up if you do your homework. Start off with Photpshop 5
if you can affor it.
