Does anyone have experience with making a 2D mind into a 3D mind?
What I am asking is: I have been doing art and graphics for 30 years in
mostly a 2D space. I have taken Flash and work in it here and there. I want
to start thinking more in 3D.
Can anyone suggest a type of class that would best train me to do this?
At a local school, Santa Rosa Junior College (<A
HREF="http://www.santarosa.edu/">Santa Rosa Junior College</A>), I see the
class in the Applied Technology Department: *APTECH 53 - Computer Modeling &
Animation with 3D Studio Max. Or would Beginning Drafting be better?
*APTECH 53 is described as: Three-Dimensional modeling, rendering, and
animation using the windows-based 3D Studio Max Software program. The student
will create professional quality 3D models, photo-realistic still images and
film quality animation at the personal computer. Topics include: creating
3-Dimensional objects and scenes, assigning and editing bitmap materials,
creating and setting light sources and camera, casting shadows, and
describing movement of: objects, camera, and lights to produce desired
results at computer animations.
3D Studio Max is for Windows and I am a Mac person but I can work at the JC
lab.
By the way, many of the classes this JC offers are online, especially in the
Computer and Information Sciences Dept. (CIS -<A

hn_kiosk&program=REPORT-AB114-FRAME-1&DSI=0&P-DSI-FLAG=N">Santa Rosa Junior
College Classes</A>), where I teach Beg. HTML and usually take classes. I am
not doing this as an ad -- just in case anyone wants info about other classes.
Thanks to anyone who may have some advice on this.
