If that idea actually deterred anyone it might be worth the trouble.  There is
*hardly* a "protective shield", transparent or otherwise.  If someone stole an
image they liked and then opened it in  a graphics program only to find a
black image, anyone with half their sense would take it into an animation
program and separate the frames, and take out what they wanted.  Besides the
fact that if the black square is transparent, it will be transparent on
*their* website as much as it was yours.  In other words, don't bother wasting
your time or other people's bandwidth with that ploy because it's not going to
stop ayone.

Completely untrue.  It will not  stop them from downloading anything.  Period.
Just because you put a black box over your image does not somehow magically
disable the "save image as" function on other people's web browsers.

I'm sure most of you know all this, and I too got a chuckle out of the advice,
however there are a number of newbies to the group, as always, and they might
actually believe that this would work.  Sorry to waste the bandwidth of the
veterans... *s*
