Art and Graphic information

Hello,

I am an Internet programmer who is looking to seriuosly improve his design =
and graphic ability. Although I have been doing web sites for several =
years, most of my experience has been building the architecture and =
backend of the Internet Applications.

I know the basics of Adobe photoshop and Illustrator, which I use for =
modeling and design concepts.

I am looking for some good web sites that have good tutorials and examples =
of art and design basics on up. If you know of any good sites( or books =
that may be worth purchasing), could you please share them with me.
