For what it's worth, you can quickly check known application-specific
failures by searching the Dreamweaver or Flash technotes with keyword
"crash". (We try to log things that come up for people.)

Other than that, yes, it's looking like Windows Explorer is failing there.
This wouldn't need to be open simultaneously.

(I got confused by the "every time I open or close" part... seems like it
would be hard to close it if it actually couldn't be opened, so I'm
probably not visualizing correctly.)

I'm glad you proved the integrity of that demo CD by trying on another
computer. Sorry that I don't know what's up there on that one box,
though... as the other folks recommended, a disk-maintainence utility is a
good initial step.
