Technotrivia ahead.... ;-)

The EMBED tag is used for Netscape plugins. The OBJECT tag is used for
ActiveX Controls.

Some players are available as both plugins and controls. That's why
Shockwave and Flash use nested OBJECT/EMBED tags.

Some players are available only as plugins. They can use just the EMBED.
The OBJECT tag won't hurt any, but as there's not a QuickTime ActiveX
Control, it won't add anything, either.

Sidenote: The HTML 4.0 spec specifies a very flexible use of the OBJECT
tag. Unfortunately, the existing IE/Win implementation will often conflict
with it, and so the HTML 4.0 spec on OBJECT won't be relevant until after
the current browser generations melt away....

Summary: Got QuickTime? Use EMBED.
