transparent animated gifs

Hi,

I am trying to make an animated banner using Gifbuilder on my Mac. I want
to incorporate transparency into the animation so that it gradually fades
away at the end of the loop. However, I don't seem to be able to get the
transparency feature to work. I have tried exporting the transparent images
in the Gif89a transparency mode, and I have also tried to use the
transparency feature in gifbuilder, but with no luck, they both just turn
out grey! Is it possible to do this and does anyone know how?
