FYI,
Adobe announced today Photoshop 5.5, scheduled to ship in mid July. For
details, see the adobe site,
http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/photoshop/main.html
PS 5.5 will include ImageReady 2.0, as well as a number of improvements
that appear to incorporate features currently offered by various
third-party plug-ins.
The pricing may be of interest to those of you who don't yet have Photoshop
and are thinking of purchasing it as a standalone application (i.e., not
bundled with a scanner, etc.). The estimated street price, per Adobe, will
be $609. However, it appears that registered owners of ImageReady 1.0 OR PS
5.0 will be able to upgrade to PS 5.5 (which includes ImageReady 2.0) for
$129.
Now, if you don't have ImageReady, it can be purchased for about
$190 from various vendors. In other words, the combined price of IR
followed by the PS 5.5 upgrade in July will be about $319 ($190 + $129).
