Hi Ya'll,

No, I'm not from the south, but a friendly "Southern" New Year greeting
isn't out of order, izit?

I just visited the HWG list archives and 'our' list was not on the table of
contents - no wonder since we have it all together and don't ask many
questions. I wrote the list manager to 'wake her up' and list us :)

For those of you who have signed out books and haven't seen it updated on
the signouts.xml file, my apologies. I haven't been able to ftp to the hwg
server since December. I'm trying to correct that: first, I did some
checking on my end to make sure my settings haven't changed, then I got in
touch with Richard Brinegar to see if I needed to get new permissions since
the merger. He's going to check with Joe Cline, our db manager.

Also, you might see an update soon on the Document Index I, II, and III
because Frank is going to help out with the scripts used to make those
updates. I know the information is a little dated.

On another note, if you want to see the overall picture of Project Gutenberg
try their mailing list (at
http://listserv.unc.edu/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=gutvol-d
<http://listserv.unc.edu/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=gutvol-d> ) but beware it is
active. When Jim Tinsley told me it was 4 or 5 post per day that might be
average or when the topic isn't lively. Currently it is between 8 to 15
posts per day. It is very informative and Michael Hart posts comments from
people who have down loaded books and had better lives for it.

I would invite any of you who are still actively part of HWG's mark-up
effort to drop the list a line to say HI!. I'm sure there are even some
volunteer openings should someone want to do a little more.

See you later,

Pete
