Technical Writers Wanted

Sun Microsystems Inc., International Centre for Network Computing has a
number vacancies for senior and junior technical writers in Grenoble, France.

Job Description 
---------------
As a Technical Writer in the Information Design & Development Group, you
will be expected to work closely with Engineering and Marketing teams to
originate high quality product documentation and marketing tools, with
increasing emphasis on online delivery strategies. You must be highly
flexible and able to contribute in all areas of information design and
delivery.

Your primary functions will include:

* working with engineering, marketing and IDD teams to originate high quality 
product documentation for embedded software systems and related development 
tools, including the development of online help and online documentation in 
HTML and/or SGML. 

* consulting in all areas of documentation delivery and product usability 

Candidate profile 
----------------- 
Required Knowledge and Skills

You are a university or college graduate in Technical Communication, Computer 
Science, or a related field with 2 years relevant work experience.

You must be enthusiastic and flexible, and able to work with limited
supervision 
in a high-pressure environment. You must be able to function effectively as a 
contributing member of a diverse, multi-cultural team.

English mother-tongue is a prerequisite for this position. Spoken and/or
written 
French language is not essential; however, we strongly encourage a willingness 
to integrate in the local environment. 

In addition, you have the following skills:

* excellent written and verbal communication skills 
* good visual communication and presentation skills 
* good knowledge of networked computer systems, especially UNIX and the
Internet 

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

* experience of various programming and scripting languages, especially C,
C++, 
Java, JavaScript, Tcl/Tk 
* experience of hands-on web page design (HTML, CGI scripts, Java) 
* experience using one or more of the following: FrameMaker, SGML and/or XML, 
LaTeX 
* knowledge of one or more of the following technical domains an advantage: 
embedded software systems, high-performance operating systems,
object-oriented design and development, high availability, software
management platforms, distributed directory services, network and bandwidth
management
