4187HWG Technical Editing (Writer) - Boulder, CO
NOTE: These positions are probably best filled by a junior level technical
editing/writing person who is still establishing their career OR someone who
wants to work at home OR a retiree that wants to supplement income OR for a
second income. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that testing is REQUIRED before being
considered and is administered LOCALLY (Longmont, Colorado), the pay is NOT
negotiable, must be willing to ATTEND on-site meetings in Boulder, Colorado.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Positions are for EDITING ONLY, there is little or NO
original documentation writing. The work is limited to copy, cut-n-paste,
matching/verifying documentation with flowcharts. Work on
processes/procedures, software or hardware documentation, and
inter/intra-Net posting.
LENGTH & LOGESTICS: Positions are for a specific contract time length,
depending on the work to be accomplished. Most positions are work at home
AND with the ability to commute into the office as needed, usually once or
twice per week.
KNOWLEDGE: Candidate MUST possess knowledge/experience with the following=20
applications (in descending order of importance): MS Word 97, Micrographx=20
FlowCharter and/or Visio, Lotus Notes or SmartSuite, Adobe products, and=20
Paint Shop Pro. If lacking knowledge/experience in one or two applications,=
=20
then training might be provided depending upon test scores.
SOFTWARE & HARDWARE REQUIRED: Any software not owned personally will be=20
supplied for the duration of the contract then returned upon contract
completion. Manuals will be provided for project and be return upon
contract completion. Any training will be on-site for necessary time needed
to become proficient. Personal equipment required: Minimum 200 Pentium or
greater, =BD gig space available on the hard drive, and a modem. If working=
at
home and the writer=92s personal equipment becomes non-operational, working
on-site is required until writer=92s equipment is repaired.
TESTING IS REQUIRED and is in-person and on-site. No remote testing
available. A passing test score will be required before being considered
for employment. Test score is based on a) editing, b) logic, c)
applications/tools.
PAY: $17.88/hr (non-negotiable). Highland has benefits available.
