Knowledge Products Manager

BASIC PURPOSE: Manages the activities of personnel in the Knowledge=20
Products Department ( Documentation Department). Contributes to performance=
=20
support strategic planning and design. Manages multiple documentation=20
projects.
Ensures that projects meet established quality standards, budgets, and
deadlines. Hires and maintains a trained staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Contributes to performance support strategic planning and design.
2. Develops and manages multiple Knowledge Products projects.
3. Directs personnel activities of staff:=A7 Conducts ongoing performance
appraisals.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Education & Training:Bachelor of Science
degree, majoring in business, technical writing, graphics design, computer
science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 7 to 10
years' practical experience in technical writing, course development,
performance support system development. At least 2 years' experience
managing projects in a technical environment, preferably in the software
development industry. At least 2 years' experience in people
management.Specialized Knowledge & Skills:Excellent time management,
organizational, human relations, analytical, and problem solving skills with
proven experience in managing documentation projects and technical
communicators. Knowledge of documentation development processes and a
thorough understanding of the quality review process. Proven ability to
extend the company's documentation development process toward electronic
performance support systems. Expert knowledge of audience, needs, and task
analysis. Excellent page design and layout skills. Excellent interviewing,
editorial, indexing, and proofreading skills. Excellent organizational,
decision-making, and communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and
communications skills. Expert proficiency, including advanced techniques,
in Microsoft Word, Help development (WinHelp and HTML Help using RoboHELP
tools), and Web development tools.
